(EN) Top Ten Tuesday: Series I Don’t Plan to Finish/Pick Up

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is created by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl and it’s purpose is that you make a top 10 list on Tuesday out of the topics she provides. However, you don’t have to stick exactly to 10, you may also put more or less books/things on the lists. Moreover, you are allowed to give an “unique” spin to the topic whenever that works better for you. Well, let’s move on to this week’s list!

I took another old prompt since today’s original prompt is Books On My Spring 2019 TBR and I don’t work with seasonal TBR’s. Well, let’s look into the series I either won’t finish or will never pick up.

Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian

I read the first book, but I really was not captivated by the story, so I won’t pick up Lady Smoke.

The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi

You will find my review on Goodreads already and on my blog this Saturday, but this book didn’t work for me. Therefore I’m not reading the rest of this series yet.

Strange The Dreamer by Laini Taylor

The English version of the book was really hard to get into, so for now I won’t finish this series. However, the Dutch translation will be out in May, so this might be changing.

The Precious Stone trilogy by Kerstin Gier

I started the first book, but DNF’ed it halfway through. I found it way to immature and boring for my taste, so this is a no for me.

Carve The Mark by Veronica Roth

I talked about Divergent in this Top Ten Tuesday, but Carve The Mark is a series I won’t pick up either. This sounds even less appealing than Divergent.

The Helen Grace series by M. J. Arlidge

I got tired of these books after Liar Liar, so I probably won’t pick up the rest. All books are feeling a little repetitive now.

The Erika Foster series by Robert Bryndza

The same concern as with the Helen Grace series, the books are getting more repetitive. I still have the third book at home, but I won’t buy any more books in this series. They are too similar to the books by Arlidge in my opinion.

Phobos by Victor Dixen

This is a series I have literally no choice to never finish, because the Dutch publisher won’t translate the fourth Phobos book, nor the novella with all the background stories. My knowledge of French is like non-existent as I don’t use it anymore, so I really hope that there will be an English translation of the fourth book set on Mars.

Silber by Kerstin Gier

No, not gonna pick this one up as I don’t like the other series by this author.

Riders by Veronica Rossi

I DNF’ed the first book halfway through, so not picking up Seeker.

What series will you never finish or pick up?

  1. I liked Carve the Mark (much more satisfying ending than Allegiant). I can see how you might not want to read Strange the Dreamer in a second language. I DNF’d the Spanish version of Carve the Mark the first time I attempted it at about 65% in because the language was too difficult for me. I was able to finish it on my second attempt though.

  2. I’ll probably never read anything else by Veronica Roth because that’s how much I liked the Divergent books lol. I’m still hoping to read The Gilded Wolves myself, and I’m going to be starting Strange the Dreamer this month…but…I’m not sure I’ll like it, it’s had some odd reviews!

  3. Oh good, I thought I was the only one that didn’t like Ruby Red by Kersten Gier! I know of so many people that love it and I was like…why??? It’s really not that good at all. I finished it, but I was waiting the whole time for something to happen and it just never did! And the romance made no sense, and the secret time travel society was so creepy and sexist and ugh. I hated it. XD
