Down the TBR hole #7

It has been a while, but I have been in such a weird blogging space lately that I didn’t do anything at all except for a WWW-Wednesday. But, it’s time to continue cleaning my Goodreads shelf.

Down the TBR Hole is originally created by Lia @ Lost in a story, unfortunately her blog is no more. This is how it works:

  • Go to your “To read” shelf on Goodreads.
  • Sort it by “date added” and click on “reverse” so that the oldest addition is on top.
  • Pick the top 5 (or more if you love a good challenge) books, read the synopsis and think about whether you want to keep them or if they may go.
  • Write in this blog post a little bit about the book and what you decide to do with it.
  • Tell us the statistics at the start and at the end.
  • Number of books on my TBR: 213

Charlie and me by Mark Lowery

I added this book to my TBR after reading a review back in 2018. I also bought this book back then, but guess what? It’s still on my TBR. Well, I have the intention to read this middle-grade someday, so it stays.

Verdict: Keep

House of earth and blood by Sarah J. Maas

This book has been on my TBR since its announcement and guess what? It will be out on March 3, so this one is definitely going to stay.

Verdict: Keep

Zonder jou by Chantal en Priscilla van Gastel

Another book that has been on my TBR for ages, but which I still haven’t read. I read a feelgood story by Chantal van Gastel around Christmas in 2018 and I found it okay. However, I hear good stuff about this thriller, so I will give it a chance one day. However, this one may be removed in the future.

Verdict: Keep

The Emerald sea by Richelle Mead

Although the story of The Glittering Court might become repetitive, I think Tamsyn will be the most interesting girl, so I absolutely want to read this one.

Verdict: Keep

Running with lions by Julian Winters

I bought this book because the ARC reviews sounded pretty good. I did this in 2018 and it’s still on my TBR. However, I am still quite interested, so I might give this one a chance. Oh I’m so bad this week.

Verdict: Keep

Books 3, 4, 5 and 7 in the department Q series by Jussi Adler-Olsen

Okay I’m counting these as one and am not providing you with all the images and titles, but I will keep these. I forgot to add the 6th book, so that’s further down below on my TBR.

Verdict: Keep

The secret history of us by Jessi Kirby

Nah, this one can go. It sounded pretty interesting and I saved the audiobook for a while now, but I just don’t pick it up. And honestly it doesn’t sound that interesting anymore.

Verdict: Remove

The miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth

Yes, I’m keeping this one. I added this book in 2018 as well, but I’m still interested in reading it and judging from the synopsis I totally don’t understand why this book is not translated yet.

Verdict: Keep

Hart van vuur by Miranda Peters

I read the first book in this Dutch trilogy back in 2018 and I enjoyed it. It’s not a favorite and in fact, the second installment of this series will be the dealbreaker for me. Will I finish this trilogy or not? I will keep this book anyhow.

Verdict: Keep

Vengeful by V. E. Schwab

Okay, unpopular opinion time. But, I really didn’t enjoy Vicious. Books like these are just not for me, and that has nothing to do with Schwab’s writing. I had a hard time reading Vicious and getting through that book, so I think I won’t end up reading Vengeful soon. Maybe later, because I have the book. For now, I hate to admit it, but this one has to go. A darker shade of magic is more my cup of tea.

Verdict: Remove

  • Number of books analysed: 10
  • Number of books kept: 8 (80%)
  • Number of books removed: 2 (20%)

Have you read any of these books?

I read a bit of Miseducation and it was kinda slow, so I gave up on it. But the movie was good! I havent done a Down the TBR hole post in so long, so I know how you feel.
