Bookending Spring: Knock offs

Posted april 5, 2020 by Laurie in Boekenpraat, Booktalk, English, events / 3 Comments

I’m back with another prompt for Bookending Spring, actually the first prompt of the event. I just did it differently and started with the second prompt of the event. Anyway, this prompt is created by Sam over at Fictionally Sam and its goal is to check and see which backlisted books you want to get of your TBR this spring. And actually read them, but that’s a whole different story. Without further ado, here are just SOME of my backlisted books I want to read this spring.

Read in | March 2020

That March was a strange month is probably the understatement of the decade. In the Netherlands, we got our first case of Covid19 in the last weekend of February, but there was no reason to panic yet. So, life was normal in the first weeks of March. However, that changed on March 12 and even more on March 15. Measures have been taken and rules were implemented. Social distancing became a thing. Many people struggled with reading and this certainly applies to me too. I missed my commute as I had to work at home. However, I started to build in some reading time before and right after work to keep this reading routine. Therefore, I still managed to read a good amount of books in March. Here is what I have been reading!

Five books to read that will make you forget corona for a while

Posted maart 20, 2020 by Laurie in Boekenpraat, Booktalk, English / 0 Comments

This may sound strange, but all the measures regarding the corona virus inspired me to write a blog post. In nearly all countries governments took measures which causes people to be mostly stuck at home for a few weeks. People need to work at home as much as possible, events are cancelled, schools are closed and so on. This means that first, you have more time to read. In fact, you don’t have your commute to work or school. Second, all the news is bringing a negative vibe and makes people anxious. Therefore, it’s important to be able to take your mind of things for a while and be able to forget about it all. These five books are likely to help you with all this as you are able to loose yourself completely in these stories.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books With Single-Word Titles

Posted maart 3, 2020 by Laurie in Boekenpraat, Booktags, Booktalk, English, Top Ten Tuesday, Uncategorized / 1 Comment

It has been forever since I participated in Top Ten Tuesday, but this week’s topic sounded very interesting.

Top Ten Tuesday is created by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl and it’s purpose is that you make a top 10 list on Tuesday out of the topics she provides. However, you don’t have to stick exactly to 10, you may also put more or less books/things on the lists. Moreover, you are allowed to give an “unique” spin to the topic whenever that works better for you. Well, let’s move on to this week’s list!

Read in | February

Posted maart 1, 2020 by Laurie in Boekenpraat, Booktalk, English / 1 Comment

I’m a little later than I’d anticipated, this post was meant to go live this morning at 6AM. However, I have been really busy yesterday and I unfortunately came down with a cold, so this post just wasn’t finished. At the start of February my energy was a bit lacking and therefore I couldn’t read as many books as I wanted. I still haven’t lowered my challenge, but maybe I need to do so. However, I found my reading flow back later this month, only to slump a little bit again at the end. Oh well, let’s look into the books I’ve read in February!

WWW-Wednesday #46 | 12 February 2020

Posted februari 12, 2020 by Laurie in Boekenpraat, Booktalk, English / 0 Comments

WWW-Wednesday is a meme I’ve seen on a lot of blogs, so I have no idea who came up with it first. The purpose of this meme is pretty simple: tell us what you have read last week, what you are currently reading and what you will be reading next. You do so by answering the following questions:

  • What have you read last week?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • What will you be reading next?

Flashback Friday: what did I actually read? #7

Posted februari 7, 2020 by Laurie in Boekenpraat, Booktalk, English / 1 Comment

On Kwante‘s I found the series “shopaholic exposed”. She took it over from Candyce & Isabelle, who called this series “looking back on our bookhauls”. The goals of this meme is to look back on your old bookhauls and to check whether you actually have read the books you added back then or not. As I often have huge hauls it’s time to get myself exposed and therefore I’m taking over this series.
